Rhythms Archive

For over a decade, I made yearly trips to the interior of Guinea, West Africa, to immerse myself in the traditional music of the Malinké people.

Over the course of eight trips and nearly three years in Guinea, I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to study the djembe and dunun drums with some of the best: Famoudou Konaté, Sayon Camara, Nansady Keita, Lancine Condé, and more.

My time in West Africa with these amazing musicians remains some of the most memorable experiences in my life, and I owe it to these musicians (and the world?) to finish the work I started. The Rhythms Archive will be my ongoing effort to organize, clean up, type up, and polish my research — and publish it here.
